Police confiscate 180kg pet pig over welfare concerns
A Florida woman says she is heartbroken after her beloved pet pig Pork Chop was confiscated by police over welfare concerns for the animal.
Estimated to weigh about 400 pounds (180kg), authorities had to harness the pig and take it away from its home in Northwood Village, just north of West Palm Beach.
Pork Chop's owner Kelly Jacobson was visibly distraught after the animal was led away for further vet checks.

Animal welfare officers were concerned over Pork Chop's weight, which is estimated to be about 400 pounds (180kg). CNN
"I don't know what else to say about that. They took Pork Chop away from me," she said.
It is understood that animal welfare officers were concerned about the pig's weight, and are now looking to take custody.
"And I fought a lot of people for a long time to keep him and people are taking him away from me," Jacobson said.
"It was quite a distraction. I do know that they heard it across the street squealing," she added, hinting that neighbours might have made formal complaints about her pet.

But all hope is not lost for the pig according to Annette Wrubleski, who runs a pig sanctuary called Laughing Pig about two hours away in central Florida.
"They're sentient beings. They're just incredible. They're so misunderstood," she said.
"It's going to be a long process so if he (Pork Chop) can't walk and he can't, he doesn't have that activity level to exercise, but it will come in time."
The animal's custody status is not yet known.
