Firefighters capture three metre snake

Video footage of two firemen attempting to capture a three-metre snake has been released in Brazil.

The video shows one of the men using rope to lasso the anaconda's neck, whilst the other held its tail with his bare hands.

Biologist Moses Souza said that this particular snake is not poisonous, but can kill its victims by asphyxiation.

According to the Fire Brigade, search and rescue snakes are common, but they were surprised by the size of this particular snake.

Despite weighing more than 20 kilograms, it did not put up much of a fight.

It was captured after a neighbourhood resident requested it be taken away.

It was then taken to Chico Mendes Park.
