Fearless cat scares bear away from family home

A house cat  has stood its ground and sent a bear packing in the US.

In the video, captured by the cat’s owner on Sunday, Nani can be seen staring and hissing as the black bear approaches the home.

Nani doesn’t back away even as the curious bear approaches.

“The bear came up our front drive way and walked around the house to the back. We were all kind of watching him as he came up the back porch and that’s when Nani saw him,” owner, Darlis Elliott told to Viral animal website Earthporm.

As the bear reaches for the door, the brave cat lunges towards the door, forcing the bear to bolt away.

“She’s really such a fraidy-cat most of the time, I don’t know what got into her, we were all really surprised that she lunged at him, but we were more surprised that it scared him enough to fall of the porch,” Ms Elliott said.

The video has since gone viral and has been viewed more than 400,000 times.
