'Extremely violent' plane passenger bites man, then dies

A man travelling aboard an Irish airliner has died after an "extremely violent" episode in which he bit another passenger before losing consciousness and never waking back up.
The Aer Lingus flight from Lisbon, Portugal to Dublin was forced to make an emergency landing after the 24-year-old man "ran amok" and sunk his teeth into another passenger before being restrained by flight crew.
After being subdued by staff, the man lost consciousness, and was pronounced dead despite the best efforts of a doctor on board to administer medical assistance.
According to the Irish Mirror, the Airbus A320-200 broadcast three emergency "Pan Pan" messages, as the pilot explained the young man had become "extremely violent" and "injured one or two passengers".
The plane then made an emergency landing at Cork at around 5:40pm, where the 168 passengers and six crew were met by paramedics and an ambulance.
Along with the biting victim, the Mirror reports a second man was injured in the fracas.
The nationality of the dead man, who was travelling alone, is not clear, though he is not believed to be Irish, and is thought to have been an international student.
