An English girl has died after strong winds blew the jumping castle she was playing in more than 150 metres across a park.

The unnamed girl, thought to be aged seven, was playing in the park in Harlow, Essex, as part of an Easter celebration, the Harlow Star reports.

The jumping castle became swept up in high winds, having not been secured to the ground, police believe.

The girl was found with serious injuries and rushed to a Cambridge hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence.

Investigations are continuing.
