Emergency plane landing goes horribly wrong

Powered by

An airline passenger is lucky to be alive after the plane's propeller crashed through her window and smacked into her head.

The Air Canada Bombardia Q-400 was on its way from Calgary to Grand Prairie on Friday night when it was forced to make an emergency landing after experiencing a blown-tyre on take-off.

But photos of the grounded plane show a blown-tyre wasn't the only issue as a propeller can be clearly seen jutting out of the aircraft's body and wedged between two windows.

Christina Kurylo told CTV she was left "dazed" after the propeller sliced through her window.

"All of a sudden, something came crashing through my window and I got hit in the head," Ms Kurylo said.

"I've got a couple of bumps on my head and basically the right side of my body is bruised and bumped."

Ms Kurylo said the knock to her head left her so "dazed" she didn't even notice the cabin beginning to fill with smoke. Another passenger ended up having to walk her out of the aircraft to safety.

A total of three passengers, including Ms Kurlyo, sustained minor injuries in the emergency landing which is now being investigated.
