Seventeen Ebola patients in Liberia who fled an attack on a quarantine centre in the capital Monrovia have been found, a government minister has said.

"All 17 patients who fled the Ebola centre (on Saturday) have been accounted for. They walked by themselves to the JFK hospital," Information Minister Lewis Brown told AFP.

The patients fled after an attack on the clinic by armed men.

The attackers screamed "There is no Ebola in Liberia" as they looted items from the clinic including bedding.

The Liberian government has faced protests from Monrovia residents who have complained about the government's establishment of an Ebola clinic in the city.
