A magnitude 6.7 earthquake has struck off the north-eastern coast of Papua New Guinea.
The US Geological Survey reports the tremor hit 39km east of the town of Namatanai at a depth of around 500km.

No tsunami warning has been issued and there is no threat to the Australian coastline.
