Dubai businessman uses shopping trolley as boat in flooded parking lot

A businessman has used a shopping trolley as a boat in an attempt to wade through a flooded Dubai parking lot to reach his car.

The man, dressed in a suit and tie, was this week filmed kneeling in the steel trolley rocking side-to-side in knee-high water.

Unsatisfied with his inch-by-inch pace, the man stands and uses what appears to be a metal pole as a makeshift oar.

As he lurches back and forth while hunched over his unlikely vessel, the sounds of giggling from the owner of the smart phone on which the moment was captured pepper the air.

As the businessman’s frustration grows, a voice off camera can be heard calling out to him.

Moments later two workers come sloshing through the water in their work clothes.

After a few last ditch efforts to shift the trolley, the man reluctantly sits down and lets the two workers push him to his car.

Torrential rain hit Dubai this week, causing widespread flooding of main roads and homes.
