Drunk man wakes up after car reverses over his head

A Polish man is lucky to be alive after a car reversed directly over his head while he was sleeping outside a liquor store.

Jarkek Sawickio, 25, dozed off outside the bottle shop around 5pm on June 9 this year after being refused service because he was allegedly too intoxicated.

Footage of the accident shows the Mr Sawickio sleeping on the pavement as the left back wheel of an Opel car slowly backs over his head.

"The driver didn't see him lying down and he was very lucky not to have been killed", Police spokesman David Szlachetka said.

Mr Sawickio escaped with only minor abrasions but said the incident served as a wake-up call and he will try and reduce his alcohol consumption.

"Perhaps it's my guardian angel telling me to slow down on the hard stuff," he said.
