A drunk Russian driver has ploughed into an airport in the country's southwest in an attempt to evade police.

The man's erratic driving caught the attention of police after he allegedly knocked down a barrier leading into Kazan Airport's car park after midnight on Wednesday.

Police cornered him near a locked glass door into the international terminal of the airport.

Rather than give up chase, he drove straight through them with security guards chasing after him.

Passengers are caught fleeing the car across multiple camera angles.

Onlookers and airport employees look on in genuine shock as the car drives past them.

People throw things in front of the car in an attempt to force the driver to stop, to no avail.

The man then drove through a second set of glass doors leading out to a larger concourse, before smashing his way through an exit back into the snow-covered roads outside the airport.

Tens of people chase the car out of the airport, where it appears to have crashed into something - stopping the driver from making a getaway.

Luckily, nobody was injured in the chase, according to The Moscow Times.

Estimates put the damage at approximately $136,000.
