A video has emerged of a man being rescued after he was found "frozen" to the anchor of a giant houseboat in the River Thames in the UK.

Police were called to the riverside at Battersea in south London to reports of a man stuck to an anchor, the Daily Mirror reported.

Dramatic footage of the lifeboat’s dash to the scene shows the rescue boat nosing up to the barge’s anchor.

The man can be seen being hauled aboard by the lifeboat crew.

Moments later, he is taken ashore where he was treated immediately by paramedics for hypothermia before he was taken to hospital.

Rescuer Gary Tiller told the Daily Mirror the man had clearly been in the water some time.

“He was very cold with his arms and legs locked around the chain as if he was frozen to it,” he said.

“As a result it was quite tricky getting him into the lifeboat.

“His position meant he could only be rescued by boat.

“The whole crew is very pleased we were able to save this man.”
