Dog missing for two years found

Imagine if Lassie came home and nobody was there to greet her.

The heartbreaking scenario is exactly what happened to Baby – the pint-sized pup who was found treading water in Tampa Bay last week, after being reported missing two-years ago.

A fisherman spotted the small dog's nose rising above waves early Friday morning and pulled her out of the freezing water.

After docking at Demens Landing, the fisherman and another resident took the timid canine to a local vet where her microchip was scanned.

But as it turned out, Baby had been reported missing two years ago, and her owners were now nowhere to be found.

One of the dog's current caretakers, Suzy Johnson, told the Tampa Bay Times that Baby seemed well groomed and cared for.

"She is just so well trained and obedient."

Caretakers are now hoping for a happy reunion following Baby's lucky rescue and that photos and word of the story will help lead her home.
