Donald Trump tells Florida supporters to vote for him three weeks after the election date

Donald Trump has urged his supporters to go vote on November 28, a date which falls almost three weeks after the election will actually be held.

The business mogul and former reality television star urged voters to register by Wednesday's extended registration deadline during a campaign rally in Panama City, Florida, on Tuesday.

Trump's misstatement came after he told voters the deadline had been extended in Florida due to Hurricane Matthew.

However, he failed to mention that Rick Scott - Florida's Republican governor and the chair of one of his independent campaign groups - attempted to prevent the extension.

"Go and register. Make sure you get out vote November 28," Trump told the crowd at the event.

Anti-Trump campaigners and journalists were quick to point out the gaffe on Twitter.

Americans will be heading to the polls on November 8th.
