'Trump' ecstasy pills seized by police in Indiana

They're tiny, orange, and bear a striking resemblance to President Donald Trump - and they appear to be all the rage among drug users in the United States.

Police in Indiana say they have made 129 arrests in a series of drug busts across the state's north and have included a photo of what they say are "Trump-shaped ecstasy pills".

The orange pills are stamped with a face and on the back are the words "great again", referencing the president's campaign slogan: "Make America Great Again".

Police said drug traffickers at times use uniquely shaped and coloured drugs as a marketing technique to encourage buyers to return for more.

Last week's release did not provide further details, including how many of the pills were seized.

The six-day operation in June involved traffic stops by state and city police, as well as sheriff's departments. LSD, cocaine and other drugs were also seized.

Similarly-designed ecstasy pills were seized by police in Germany last year.

Authorities in August raked in a haul with an estimated street value of 39,000 euros (AU$59,000.)

Police in Osnabrueck, in north-western Germany, say they found the drugs while checking an Austrian-registered car on the A30 highway.

They say the people in the car, a 51-year-old man and his 17-year-old son, told officers they had been in the Netherlands to buy a vehicle but hadn't succeeded so were returning home.

Officers said they found about 5,000 of the orange, Trump-shaped ecstasy tablets along with a large, but unspecified quantity of cash.
