Donald Trump improvises after teleprompter fail at rally

Donald Trump has shown off his ad-libbing skills after his teleprompter failed at a rally in North Carolina.

The US presidential hopeful continued talking for 20 minutes before revealing to an enthusiastic crowd that his teleprompter had broken.

"I actually like my speech better without teleprompters," he said, triggering a roar of support.

He then knocked over the device, and ordered: "Get this thing out of here".

The Republican then reminisced on his pre-campaign days of doing speeches without the guide.

"It’s sort of cooler without it," he said.

Mr Trump also used the technical difficulties to take a swipe at the eyesight of his rival Hillary Clinton.

"Watch Hillary… she’s always got the biggest glass (teleprompters)," he said.

"She always just reads off the teleprompter…then she goes home and goes to sleep".
