Diver's close encounter with Great White

When diver Jimmy Roseman decided to explore the murky depths of the waters off West Melbourne in Florida, he never imagined how close to death he would come.

Bone-chilling footage from a Go Pro holstered to Mr Roseman's diving gear shows the moment the calming stillness of the great blue is suddenly disturbed by a Great White Shark.

As Mr Roseman skirts across the ocean floor, the mammoth outline of the shark can be seen hovering in the distance.

Suddenly, the shark vanishes amidst the murky depths, only to reappear moments later, this time appearing to head straight for Mr Roseman.

After a few tense seconds, the animal decides to change course at the last moment, darting around and over the diver, who can be heard exhaling a sigh of relief.

The video was posted online earlier this month.
