Diver films close encounter with killer whales

As cameraman Victor Huang swam through the crystal clear blue waters of Breaker Bay in Wellington, New Zealand, he thought he was enjoying the scenery alone.

He was wrong.

Gliding silently and perilously close to Mr Huang swam two of the ocean's deadliest residents – killer whales.

"The waters were murky so I couldn't see them until they were right on me." Mr Huang wrote after uploading the video to file-sharing site LiveLeak.

"They were making squeaks and pops when they were in the distance, but went silent as they came in close."

In the extraordinary footage, the majestic creatures appear to swim directly towards Mr Huang before diverting to the right and gliding off into the distance.

Mr Huang said one of the whales came perilously close to him to "check me out".

As for his close-encounter, Mr Huang said he is "humbled".

"It was a pretty amazing experience."
