Disney World unveils 'Avatar' themed attraction
Walt Disney World Resort has unveiled a new “Avatar” themed attraction to be added to its Animal Kingdom Park later this year.
In a collaboration with the film’s director James Cameron, The World of Avatar is set to bring the world of Pandora to life at the Orlando, Florida resort.
“I don’t know if I can express how it feels to see something that I imagined in 1995, suddenly made physically real,” Avatar Director James Cameron said in a promotional video.
“They’re using the absolute cutting-edge technology stuff that’s never been applied before.”
The attraction will feature two rides- Avatar Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey- to take guests through the magical world.
It’s also set to imitate the floating mountains and bioluminescent forests of the film.
“I was very sceptical that it was even physically possible to build the world of Pandora,” Walt Disney Imagineering Senior VP Creative, Jo Rohde said.
“This was a crazy thing to try to do.”
The new attraction is set to open in the US summer.
