Detroit Piston Andre Drummond has thrown a third-quarter buzzer beater to the delight of Pistons fans at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan.

With time running down in the third quarter and the Pistons down 70-62, Drummond made a steal off the Toronto Raptors’ Patrick Patterson.

He had time to take a few steps before launching the shot, failing to break a smile as his teammates celebrated around him.

Drummond has made a habit of beating the clock by draining long balls this season, but according to ESPN this was one out of the box as the second longest shot of the last ten NBA seasons.

The satisfaction didn’t last long for fans though, as Twitter users were quick to label the irony in Drummond’s inaccuracy from the free throw line.

The heave pushed Drummond’s three point percentage to 40, higher than his free throw percentage (.349).

Unfortunately for the Pistons it didn’t help the end result as the Raptors went on to win the match 103-89.
