Desert tryst costs British tourist $300,000

A romantic encounter in the Nevada desert has ended up costing a UK man $300,000 when he had a heart attack post-coitus.

Peter Cousins, 55, and his partner of two years, Dawn Reed – who is also from the UK - were taking a stroll in the desert when they happened across a hot spring and one thing led to another.

But pleasure turned to pain when Mr Cousins went into cardiac arrest moments later.

The danger was very real – the hapless pair were at least 100km from the nearest phone signal.

Ms Reed then had to run 5km until she managed to flag down a truck driver, who used a satellite phone to call paramedics, who arrived in time to airlift her stricken beau to safety.

But that was only the first act. When Mr Cousins was released after five days in Reno hospital, he was slapped with a $300, 000 bill.

Unable to pay, he was forced to return to the UK, thereby ending his relationship with Ms Reed, who decided to stay in the States.

“It was the most expensive sex ever,” Mr Cousins told media outlet SWNS. “I haven’t been able to pay it off and although it’s always at the back of my mind, I have no regrets. It was worth it for the sex. It’s always worth it.”
