'I'm literally the only person on the plane': Man tweets near-solo flight

Imagine a flight with no screaming babies, no one bellowing out loud to a movie, or people reclining their seats.

Well, that dream became a reality for one American airline passenger who scored an entire plane to himself this week after rough weather sent the US flight schedule into disarray.

Snow, ice, rain and fog saw a number of flights delayed from airports in the country's mid-west and east, and their passengers rebooked onto other flights.

But not Chis O'Leary, who excitedly announced on Twitter: "I am literally the only person on this plane."

Mr O'Leary had received notification his flight had been delayed, but decided to ride it out in his hotel room rather than catch an earlier flight.

He told ABC News he got a personalised safety demonstration and a one-on-one briefing from the captain before the plane pulled away from the gate.

But Mr O'Leary's solo-flier trip was not meant to be.

The aircraft returned minutes later to pick up another delayed passenger. Nonetheless, the rarity of the experience was not lost on Mr O'Leary.

"It was definitely the most memorable flight I've been on in recent memory if only for the sheer lack of passengers to become bothersome," he said.

"There were no screaming babies, no one listening to loud lyrics or reclining their seats or taking off their shoes."
