Dad tortures and kills daughter's alleged rapist

A father in India is accused of taking revenge on the man he believes raped his daughter by inviting him over to dinner before torturing him to death.

The dad allegedly invited the 45-year-old medicine supplier to dinner at his home last Friday and tied him up after they had shared a meal, the Indian Express reports.

Police say the 14-year-old girl's father then used heated tong to burn his victim's genitals and strangled him to death.

After the 36-year-old had killed the man he went to the local police station at Khajuri Khas in Northeast Delhi and confessed.

He said he had not reported his daughter's alleged rape because he was worried it would give her a "bad name" and she could be blamed by neighbours and relatives.

The father said he had been plotting the revenge murder since the day his daughter told him she had been raped.

The 36-year-old is facing a charge of murder.
