Dad captured sleeping under sick child’s hospital cot in moving photo

A mother in the US has celebrated her husband in a Facebook post showing him curled up under his ill son’s hospital cot.

The touching portrait of parental devotion was posted to the Facebook account of York mother Amy Palmer earlier this week.

It has since received thousands of reactions.

“This is a picture of a hardworking man dedicated to his family,” Mrs Palmer wrote.

“After working all night third shift, he's right here with his son who is in the hospital. He's so tired but he's here.

"Father of the year award goes to Andre Palmer!”

The photo, taken at York Hospital Paediatrics, has drawn messages of support from countless other social media users.

Mrs Palmer has offered her thanks in a second post.

“I just want to take a minute to thank everyone who reached out to us,” she wrote.

“I took the picture because I thought what a selfless thing for my husband to do.

“[It] spoke volumes about the good person, husband, and father he truly is.”

Mrs Palmer said her son is now recovering at home.
