Bringing a bike to a knife fight: Cyclist attacked in broad daylight by blade-wielding man in UK street

Footage has emerged of a cyclist forced to fight off a man with a huge knife in a busy London street.

The video shows the attacker swiping at the man who raises his bike to protect himself.

The attack took place at 11am in the London district of Camden earlier this week and was witnessed by dozens of people, the Daily Mirror reported.

One man filmed the incident in Pratt Street from a nearby bus, describing it as terrifying.

He told the Mirror he watched on in horror as the cyclist was attacked.

"I first noticed the driver was beeping somebody furiously, but couldn't see anything extraordinary so assumed it was just traffic flow - then the man appeared in the street brandishing a knife,” he said.

"He was very aggressive and clearly had the capacity to kill.

"The attack was very one-sided, with the victim having to defend himself by using a bicycle as a makeshift shield, which no doubt saved his life."

The eyewitness said onlookers were stunned and screamed for help.

"Eventually, another man jumped in and the attacker fled - leaving everybody stunned," he said.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said two people were later arrested, one for possession of an offensive weapon and the second for obstructing police.
