Train bears down on cyclist after breaking through gate

An impatient cyclist has found a speeding train bearing down upon him after barging through a safety gate.

BBC host Jeremy Vine saw the man breaking through the barriers at North Sheen, in South London, on Friday.

The man threw his bike over first and then appeared to get irate as he tried to squeeze through himself, almost losing a shoe in the process.

He proceeded toward the tracks but realised at the last second he would not make it before the train and threw his hands in the air out of frustration.

The BBC host condemned the man’s actions and pointed out that had he been hit, it would not just be him suffering the consequences.

"Mate, the barrier is there for a reason," Mr Vine wrote.

"And when this jerk has to be scraped off the front of a train, the poor driver needs counselling for years," he added.

South West Trains responded to Mr Vine on Twitter to advise the matter was being investigated.

"Police are on the trail of the level-crossing-loon," Mr Vine shared with his followers.
