Credit card scammers install skimming device in seconds

Miami police are searching for two men who installed a credit card skimmer in barely the amount of time it took to read this sentence.

CCTV footage shows one man distracting a petrol station worker by drawing her attention to the other end of the counter.

As the attendant turns away, another man quickly installs the device, used to swipe users' card details, into the EFTPOS machine.

The sleight of hand happens in just seconds.

"We actually believe it's the type of reader that the criminal would have to come back for to actually get the information that would have been read," Miami Beach Officer Ernesto Rodriguez told WSVN.

It is not known how long it took for the petrol station to unearth the footage, or how many customers may have been defrauded.

Miami police have launched an appeal to help find the two suspected scammers.
