Couple arrested for using daughter in crash for cash scam

A Chinese couple have been arrested after forcing their eight-year-old daughter to run into oncoming traffic as part of a compensation scam.

Dash cam video posted on China Global Television Network shows the child waiting by the side of the road in China's Guangdong Province until an opportune moment before running into the street where she is clipped by the vehicle.

The pair allegedly walked onto the street and retrieved the uninjured girl before approaching the driver to demand money.

However, the driver reported the March 3 incident to police who reviewed the footage and became suspicious.

Another video in the CGTN package shows the pair repeating the exercise with the young girl this time during peak hour traffic.

The driver in this instance swerves across multiple lanes to avoid the girl who continues to run directly at the car until she bounces off the bonnet.

The pair have been arrested and the young girl relocated to a foster home.
