Clumsy soldier saved from live grenade

A clumsy soldier has been dragged to safety by his supervisor seconds before a live grenade, which he accidentally dropped at his feet, exploded.

The pair, who are members of China's People's Liberation Army, were performing a training exercise when the potentially deadly mishap occurred.

Cameras show the supervisor indicating to the soldier where he should throw the grenade.

Moments later, the soldier attempts to launch the grenade into the open space but instead of sending it soaring, the live weapon lands at his feet.

With only seconds to spare, the quick-thinking supervisor grabs the soldier by the collar and drags him into a nearby ditch for cover.

The pair barely make it into the hole before the grenade explodes, sending up a cloud of dust and dirt from the very spot they were just standing.
