Selfless truckie ploughs burning truck through tunnel

A Chinese man has channelled his inner action hero after driving his exploding truck out of a tunnel to avert disaster.

Xiao Wei was driving through the tunnel in Guizhou Province on Friday when he noticed his vehicle was alight, local media reports.

Like something out of a 90's Hollywood blockbuster, Wei ploughed on, escaping the tunnel before trying to douse the flames.

"The cargo caught fire when I was driving, the fire started in the middle part of the cargo and grew into huge flames," the truckie told local media.

"I tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher but failed."

No one was hurt during the blaze.
