Chilean bus driver smashes through car in escape attempt

When confronted by an angry group of young men, a Chilean bus driver wisely decided to drive away smash directly into the path of one of the youths' cars.

Video shot last week shows a group of men arguing with the bus driver, with one of men suggesting to get out a knife.

After an exchange of swear words, the bus driver decides it’s time to move away, and begins to pull away from the kerb.

Just as he does this, one of the men spat on the bus driver and smashed the side window with a rock.

The bus driver then moves away from the angry men and smashes through their Volkswagen Golf hatchback that was blocking the road.

As the bus driver is seen in the distance, the Volkswagen can be seen with smoke coming from the bonnet as it is wedged on the footpath.

According to Chilevision, the bus driver previously bumped into the rear of the VW Golf driven by student Hernán Gutiérrez.

Gutiérrez then drove in front of the bus and blocked it demanding that the driver wait for the police.

Chiliean bus drivers are fast earning a reputation for standing up for themselves, with a similar incident in October.

CCTV footage from a few months ago showed a thief attempting to snatch a purse from a lady on the bus.

But the driver closed the door on the thug's arm before walloping him with a baseball bat.
