A one-year-old boy is fighting for life after being shot in the head in Chicago.

Chase Irving has two bullets lodged in his head and his chances of survival are low, say his family.

He had been sitting in a carseat in his grandmother’s car with four other people, including his mother, at 5.30pm (local time) on Thursday.

His gran had been parking in South Throop, in Chicago’s Far South Side, when a suspect pulled up in a black car and fired.

Police have identified the car used in the attack and a reward of $23,500 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

“They just want the person who discharged that weapon to either turn yourself in or somebody turn him in,” said crisis responder Andrew Holmes.

“We shouldn’t have to go to pull out money to put a bounty on anybody’s head. Why are you hiding now?”

Chase is in Comer’s Children’s Hospital, connected to a respirator.
