Singer Cee-Lo Green was spared a jail sentence after pleading no contest to allegations he dosed a date with MDMA.

Green, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Caloway, was charged last year when a 33-year-old woman reported waking up next to the former The Voice coach in bed, naked and with no memory of what happened the night before.

His lawyer told the Los Angeles Times that Green and the woman, who has not been named, had "consensual relations" after leaving a Los Angeles sushi restaurant together in July 2012.

No sex charges were laid due to a lack of evidence, according to prosecutors.

Green, 38, faced up to four years in prison for slipping the drug into the woman's drink.

He was instead sentenced to three years' formal probation, 360 hours of community service and 52 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

Green first found global fame in 2006 with his hit 'Crazy' in duo Gnarls Barkley.

His 2010 song 'F--- You' became a radio hit when its lyrics were changed to 'Forget You'.
