Rogue car sparks Trump motorcade scare

An out-of-control driver narrowly missed crashing into US President Donald Trump's armour-clad limousine as he was travelling on a Missouri highway.

Video shows Wednesday's incident in Springfield as Trump was heading to a local airport and the awaiting Air Force One presidential jet, reports ABC15.

Footage shows Trump's enormous motorcade barrelling down a closed off road, with motorcycle cops flanking the president.

Moments after the president's limousine passes, a car appears to come out of trees and cross the motorcade route.

Bystanders are shown appearing shocked at the bizarre sight of the vehicle, with some fearing a terrorist attack.

“Oh my gosh! Look at that car that just came out of the woods!” the man filming the video can be heard saying.

Secret service agents and police left the motorcade to investigate the incident.

Springfield Police Department later said the driver, who was uninjured, had lost control of the car in a nearby shopping centre car park before it went down an embankment and onto the motorcade route.

“No intent of harm or disruption to motorcade,” the department tweeted.

Trump travelled to Missouri on Wednesday to promote his tax reform plan.
