Alleged cannibal hands himself in to cops saying he was tired of eating human flesh

A suspected South African cannibal has surrendered to police, with local media reporting he said he was tired of eating human flesh.

The man turned himself into authorities in Estcourt northwest of Durban on Friday, giving police part of a human leg and hand as proof of his claims, ENCA reports.

The man led officers to a house where they found more human remains, leading to the arrests of three more people, including a traditional healer.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara told the Sunday Times the four would appear in court again next week "when they are expected to apply for bail".

It has been reported the men raped, murdered and then ate a woman.

Local media has also reported police believe the four might have tampered with graves.
