Canadian prison escapees bid for freedom foiled by escape room

Two Canadian prison escapees have been captured by police at a jail-cell simulation.

The women escape from Edmonton, Alberta prison on Monday and just the next day were found at an escape room where people pay to solve puzzles that unlock doors of fake dungeons in order to get out.

Kelise Laine Marie Mast, 23, and Samantha Faye Toope, 20, jumped a fence at the prison on Monday, the BBC reports.

The two were in jail for weapons offences.

It was a tip from the public on Tuesday evening that foiled the women's escape.

The duo had been spotted in downtown Edmonton.

In an effort to evade capture, the pair slipped into SideQuests Adventures however the police were quickly on their tail.

Officers asked the owners of the escape room if two women had just entered.

"I was like, 'Yes, actually, they have,'" Jonathan Liaw, Mrs Liaw's husband and the escape room's co-owner, told GlobalNews.

After a quick call for backup, the pair were quickly apprehended.
