Bullet nearly hits teenager on bus

A teenager travelling on a US bus was centimetres from losing her life after a bullet came flying through the window next to where she was seated.

The young Oregon woman can be seen sitting on the bus and raising her arm to pull the stop request cord attached to a nearby window.

Seconds later, that same window shatters as a bullet breaks through the glass and flies into the bus.

The girl immediately ducks and makes her way to the floor of the bus for safety.

Her shock and relief was caught on the bus' security cameras.

Fellow passenger Stephanie McDonald believes the girl's quick-thinking saved her life.

"If that girl had not ducked when she did then I would be a witness to a murder right now, and that's terrifying," Ms McDonald told KPTV.

Portland Police have not shared any information about potential suspects, but the Gang Enforcement Team have been assisting them with their investigation.

The incident occurred on April 20, but surveillance footage was only released by TriMet on Friday.
