Brazilian swimming party laugh off lucky escape after man and boy get sucked through drain

It could have ended in tragedy but a boy and man have escaped unscathed after being sucked through an underwater fissure.

Brazilian woman Patricia Rosa was filming a group of her friends while they were larking about in a waterway in late January.

A bare-chested man named Rafael Weimer and a young boy appear to be trying to dam a drain they have found in a riverbed with fronds plucked from the surrounding foliage.

But as they bounce up and down trying to stuff the branches into the drain, the boy is quickly sucked underwater, rapidly followed by Mr Weimer.

One of the younger members of the group seems to make a small effort to help but most onlookers don't appear overly concerned; indeed, a few of them are laughing.

Luckily, a few seconds later, the pair resurface.

The boy is doubled over with laughter but his unwitting co-rider appears shaken.
