A young boy has been rushed to hospital after falling from a rollercoaster at the Idlewild & Soak Zone theme park in Ligonier, near Pittsburgh.

The child fell Thursday afternoon just after 12pm (local time) and was reportedly conscious before being airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, according to NBC News.

Park spokesman Jeff Croushore said the boy was “talking and alert”, however he could not confirm the boy’s condition, or his age.

He said the rides were inspected daily.

A fire station dispatcher reportedly told NBC news the boy was about three years old.

It is unclear how the boy fell.

The wooden ride opened in 1938, and reportedly does not require seatbelts.

The accident comes less than a week after a 10-year-old boy was killed as he rode a waterslide at a Kansas water park.
