Blind pit bull rescued after being scared to leave bench

A blind pit bull that was afraid to leave a US park bench after being abandoned there has been adopted into a loving home.

Three-year-old Poly was left on a bench in California two weeks ago suffering from a number of medical conditions including being blind.

But now the director of an animal rescue group has become Poly's new owner.

"I've been rescuing dogs for 25 years and she reminded me so much of another dog that changed my life, who was also a blind pit bull," Jennifer Wales said.

"She's so sweet and loving."

Poly may have a congenital heart condition which may require expensive surgery, prompting her new family to start a fundraiser.
