Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler arrested after bar brawl

Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler has been arrested after getting into a bar fight in California, police say.

Officers were called to the Corkscrew Saloon at the Furnace Creek Resort in Death Valley National Park shortly after midnight on Tuesday and arrested the 65-year-old musician for misdemeanour assault, public intoxication and vandalism.

Police said an argument escalated into "a physical confrontation" that resulted in an individual being struck and a window being broken, Rolling Stone reports.

Butler, who was born in Birmingham, England but currently lives in Los Angeles, was released after "detox and citation", police said.

Three original members of Black Sabbath, including Ozzy Osbourne, reformed in 2012 and released their first chart-topping album for 43 years.
