Hunter frees hawk from snake's grasp

A hunter in Turkish Cyprus has captured amazing footage of a snake strangling a hawk in a dramatic reversal of roles.

The bird of prey that became the prey would have surely been killed had it not been for the timely intervention of a hunter who freed the animal from the reptile's grasp with a stick, Nova Haber reports.

The group of men came across the distressed predator with the whip snake coiled around it and after watching for some time decided to step in and save the bird from certain death.

The video shows the hunter use a stick to carefully untangle the snake without injuring it or the hawk.

After working at it for around two minutes the man prises the creatures apart and the bird flies to safety to the delight of the group.

The footage was reportedly shot on August 8 and was covered by Cypriot media yesterday.
