In yet further proof the world is filled with genuinely good people- a group of beachgoers have rescued a baby dolphin that was found struggling near a shore in Florida.

Video of the precarious porpoises' rescue was filmed by fellow beachgoer Kate McCabe, and shows the 1.2m baby stranded helplessly on the sand.

Ms McCabe told WTSP news that a few people had tried to brave the waves and rescue the dolphin, but kept getting caught in the current.

Eventually three wildlife workers took the rough seas, gently picked up the animal and carried it back to shore.

The dolphin has now found a new home at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, where it's being cared for and monitored.
