Mother says Bali Nine death row inmate Myuran Sukumaran 'breaking into pieces'

The mother of Bali Nine drug mule Myuran Sukumaran says her son is falling apart at the prospect of facing a firing squad at any time.

Raji Sukumaran spent much of yesterday visiting her 33-year-old son inside Kerobokan Jail, News Corp reports.

Myuran's mother, brother and sister flew from Sydney to Bali to be with him after learning the devastating news that he and fellow Bali Nine member Andrew Chan have lost their pleas for clemency.

"He is breaking into pieces and there is nothing I can do to help him," Ms Sukumaran was quoted as saying.

"No one should be in this position. No mother should have to go through this. It is killing us."

She urged the Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, to reconsider her son's fate and look at the positive contribution Myuran has made as an inmate in setting up rehabilitation programs to help Indonesian prisoners learn skills for life outside jail.

Lawyers for the two Sydney men will lodge an application this week with the Denpasar District Court for a judicial review or extraordinary appeal of their death sentences.
