Avalanche descends on Russian ski resort in terrifying video

A bystander has half-jokingly bidden farewell to his parents as he recorded a mass of snow sweeping down a mountainside towards him during a visit to a ski resort in Terskol, Russia.

The video, posted to Facebook earlier this week by mountain guide Oleg Koshkarev, shows an immense white cloud rapidly approaching a Russian ski resort while bystanders watch on in awe of the natural phenomenon.

It has since been viewed more than 130,000 times.

The cameraman can be heard recording a message of farewell to his parents in French. 

“So I say: I love you dad, I love you mum,” he says.

The avalanche appears to stop mid-mountain however, snow billowing out as it comes to rest just hundreds of metres from buildings. It is not believed anyone was harmed.

The ski resort is located near the highest mountain in Europe, Elbrus.
