At least eight dead in Texas shooting

At least eight people are dead, including the suspect, after a shooting at a house party in Texas.

The shooting occurred Sunday night at a party to watch a Dallas Cowboys match in the city of Plano, less than 20 miles northeast of Dallas, The Guardian reports.

Witness Crystal Sugg said she saw “commotion” between a man and a woman outside the home about 7.45pm before the man pulled out what is being reported as an automatic weapon.

“They were standing outside arguing and as they were arguing… the woman was trying to go back in (the house),” she told a Fox News affiliate.

“As she was going back in the house, you see the man pull out his gun and just start releasing. So as he was releasing I ran back in.”

Plano police spokesman David Tilley says police initially responded to a report of shots fired.

When the first officer arrived and went inside the home, they confronted the suspected shooter. Tilley says the officer opened fire, killing the suspect.

“He actually heard gunshots and that’s when he made entry into the house,” Tilley told local media.

“That’s when he observed several victims inside then engaged the suspect and that’s when he shot him.”

Two others were injured in the shooting. Their conditions have not been released.

The victims and suspect have not yet been identified. All of those killed and injured are believed to be adults.

Additional details were not immediately available. An investigation is ongoing.
