Armed robbers put Hollywood escape plan to the test

Armed hoodlums have opened fire on a locked door after their attempt to escape a liquor store turned into a bloody mess.

The heist took place at a Calgary store in Canada on Friday night just before the owner was shutting shop up at midnight.

One man tried to stuff a bottle down his pants while another tried to distract the Global Liquor owner Rajinder Birk, Calgary Sun reports.

After an argument with the men, Birk went for a baseball bat and one of the men pulled out a gun.

In the scuffle one of the men was cut on the left side of his head and Birk was shot in the arm.

They tried to flee but Birk had locked the exit doors.

Panicking, they opened fired on the door and kicked it down to make a hasty getaway.

Local police said the investigation was ongoing.
