Anti-Islam protesters disrupt peaceful French terror memorial

A large group of French mourners have clashed with anti-Islam protesters in the wake of the Paris terror attacks.

Footage shows a rally of peaceful mourners in Lille, in the north of France, shouting down and moving on protestors believed to be aligned with far right group, Front National.

A small group, brandishing large banners and setting off flares, chants "throw out Islamists" as the Human League peace rally approaches along place de la République.

Police move between the two groups as the thousand-strong mourners continue to advance, and begin to respond in unison: "Get out fascists".

The chant grows in ever increasing volume, drowning out the anti-Islam protestors, who are eventually overwhelmed and forced to backtrack with their anti-Islam signs.

Gatherings took place across France on Sunday in show of support for the French capital, despite the government banning demonstrations from taking place for security reasons.

Front National leader Marine Le Pen has declared French people "are no longer safe" and called for France to take back control of its borders.
