Ambassador says second pilot of Russian jet shot down by Turkey has been found alive by Syrian army

The second pilot of a Russian fighter jet shot down by Turkish forces near the Syrian border has been found alive by the Syrian army, a Russian ambassador said.

The pilot “was picked up by the Syrian army”, Russia's ambassador to France, Alexander Orlov, told Europe 1 radio.

“[He] managed to escape and according to the latest information we have, he was picked up by the Syrian army and will be taken to the Russian airbase,”  Mr Orlov said.

The other pilot was killed when the jet was shot down.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has condemned the attack.
