Lumbering alligator emerges from suburban drain, knocks on door with its head

An alligator has emerged from a suburban drain in a Louisiana town, slowly meandering across the street before knocking on a door with its head.

A shocked resident of La Place filmed the 10-foot reptile as it lumbered out of the drain, off the sidewalk grass and across the road.

"Are you f—king kidding me?" a woman yells, before asking if it will be shot.

"No, girl. Let him go where he wants to," the man filming the video says, before he yells, "Watch yourself, ma’am! There’s a big alligator right there."

The alligator moves across the road, before heading up a driveway and coming to a rest on a front porch.

One witness told Fox News the alligator even "head banged" against a neighbour’s front door.

"I thought I was watching something from the Sci-fi channel," Jodi Luna said.

After a rest, the alligator reportedly crawled to a nearby pond where it was captured by wildlife officials.
